February 2016 meeting

The Club's February meeting was an extremely interesting tasting of wines which had been selected by three members, Chris G., David and Peter, whom we thank for introducing us to some less well known vintages.

These ranged from a very light, 10%, summer-drinking Australian white ("Rosemount") to a more robust, 2014, 13.5%, Sicilian red, "Nero d'Avola". We also sampled a very pleasant white 2014 Rioja, "Vina Mara" (12.5%), from Spain, a Merlot, "Turner Road" (13.5%) from California, and a 2014 Jean Colin Pinot Noir (12.5%) from France. Last but not least, "Apello", a Sauvignon blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand (13%), recommended for summer drinking, was voted the favourite.

All in all a most successful evening, thoroughly enjoyed by the eighteen members present.

In March (Tuesday 1st) we go to the British Legion Club in Limpsfield for our skittles evening, aiming for a 7.00 pm start with supper at 8.30.
