August 2022 Meeting

For our August outing, 7 members and 1 guest were en-route for Birdworld, located near Farnham and is the UK’s largest bird park. It was a sunny day and thankfully just the right temperature for strolling around Birdworld, which is spread over 26 acres of landscaped park and gardens. It is home to over 1,000 birds and 180 species from around the world.

On arrival, the café was our first stop for coffee and cake before heading off. The birds were certainly making their presence felt with parrots (of all shapes and sizes), whistling ducks and kookaburras, among other species, all adding to the general hubbub. Do you know what the following groups of birds are called: Parrots, Penguins, Pelicanss, Herons and Flamingoes? (Answers below but no peeking).

Lunch was at the Forest Lodge Garden Centre, run by Haskins, located within the Park and accessed via a locked gate, which the Park staff open for entry to the Garden Centre and return!!

Before leaving Birdworld, a stop for afternoon tea was a must and rounded off a very enjoyable day.

Thank you to Graham B for supplying the transport.
