June 2016 meeting

On a warm summery evening in June, the Club's popular "Tipplers' Stroll" was another success, thanks in no small measure to the generous hospitality of our hosts, Sarah and David Miller who started the evening off, then Caroline and Graham Hill who followed on.

Sarah and David offered their eighteen guests an interesting choice of a Merlot and a Pinot Noir from Robertsons Winery, a Barista Pinotage, and a Fish Hoek Malbec. The whites were an Ondine Chardonnay and a Robertson Chenin Blanc.

At the Hills' we sampled Godstone Dry from Graham's adopted vine, a Sancerre, a Rioja and, in honour or last year's visit to the Nutbourne vineyard, a very palatable Sussex Reserve.

After a day of thunderstorms, we were lucky to be able to enjoy these choice vintages al fresco in our hosts' gardens. I am sure we'll all remember also the fine spread that accompanied the South African (mainly) wines at the Millers', and the enticing Chocolate Fountain at the Hills'.

July's event is the summer party, for which we pay our first visit to the new Lloyd Hall in Outwood.
Please note that exceptionally we meet there on a Thursday, the 7th, from 7.30 pm.
