January 2013 New Years Dinner

January 15th was a thoroughly enjoyable evening at The Dog and Duck with thirty members gathered round a cosy, warming log fire for pre-dinner drinks.

Dinner followed, in the 'barn', for which we had chosen from an appetising selection of fish and meat dishes. Starters included the mystery "Farmer's Boot" (latest name for a mushroom, bacon and onion-filled potato jacket), as well as the traditional prawn cocktail and an excellent smoked duck.

Turkey and Christmas pudding were popular choices (it seems some people can never get enough). And the landlady's mulled wine went down a treat. It was a great start to the Club's year.

Debbie was busy with her camera so there should be some interesting pictures to follow.

February's meeting (5th) is a members wine-tasting, not as printed in the programme.
Three members will bring their favourites for a blind tasting to see if we can identify the grape and country of origin.
